Ingredients for delicious baguette

You will need: 500 grams of wheat flour (type 550 is best), 1.5 teaspoons salt, 1 dice of yeast, 300 milliliters of lukewarm water.

Here’s how it works: Pour the flour into a large mixing bowl. Add salt and mix well. Then dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water. When it has dissolved well, add the water-yeast mixture to the flour and knead quickly into a dough.

Once it is well kneaded, it is best to continue with the weight technique: place the dough on the worktop, fold the upper half on the lower half, then turn everything 90 degrees and fold from top to bottom again. So it always goes in circles. After a while, place in the bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel and leave to rise in a warm place until the lump of dough is twice as big.

Then place the dough on the lightly floured work surface, divide into two parts, knead briefly once and shape into two oblong baguettes. Brush them with a little water, powder over flour and cut the top with the typical baguette pattern. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and leave to rise covered for another 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the top to 220 degrees. Place an oven dish with a little water at the bottom of the oven – the steam will later give a really crispy crust. Then bake the baguettes for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Take out, let cool slightly, slice and enjoy.
